SeeLocal.Tv and see why Pocomoke City is alive with the sights and sounds of a vibrant community. Nestled on the banks of the Pocomoke River, Pocomoke City offers many attractions for visitors and residents. Boating and golfing are enjoyed year round in the mild Eastern Shore climate. Bikers abound on Viewtrail 100, which winds around and through Worcester County and Pocomoke City while avid fishermen are drawn to the dark, tea-colored waters from which the river earned its Native-American name and where popular species include perch, gar, catfish, pickerel, herring, and large mouth bass and although not a marine species, Pokomoke also claims to be the original home of the deep fried oreo. Yes, that's what we said and it's probably everything you think it is or nothing you'd expect, so try one.
The good people of Pokomoke City also claim to be "The Friendliest Town on the Eastern Shore" and from first hand experience, we can tell you there's no reason to doubt them.
And don't forget to see even more inside info about Pokomoke City and to visit our local Pokomoke friends on line, by watching the Pokomoke City, Maryland Show above.
Delmarva Discovery Center: We can also tell you from first hand experience that there's nothing else like the Delmarva Discovery Center and the only place you can find it is in Downtown Pokomoke City. Stepping inside is like steeping into a time-capsule-continuum because suddenly you find yourslef immersed in the sights and sounds of the history of Pokomoke City; a living museum, the center focuses on the Pokomoke River ecology and the Human History of the Pokomoke River and Delmarva. Offering a regular schedule of programs, tours and events, there's always something going on at the center and with new exhibits continuosly added, there's always something new to see. And, while you're visiting, be sure to find out about a ride on the Bay Queen.
Classic Collections: Since Pokomoke City is made up of a mix of cultures and heritage, it's not too surprising to find one of it's most unique businesses to be made up of the same thing; Classic Collections is a truly one-of-a-kind store, no, make that specialty shop that features antiques and other treasures from all over the world as well as pieces from local artists. And, if you're wondering just how unique Classic Collections can be, take a look at our Pokomoke Show and have a look at what just might be the world's biggest CD player...circa the 1800's.
Another very special feature of Pokomoke City is The Vault. Also brought to you by Classic Collections, The Vault is an appointment only kind of place that is a collage of color of artifacts from all over the world. From bronze pieces to handcrafted works of wood- like their "travelling" marriage chest, a dowry peice it seems, that travelled from castle to castle, you can see it and more of The Vault's eclectic collection also in the SeeLocal.Tv Pokomoke Show.
